Highly motivated and enthusiastic (international) researchers with a background in biology, (landscape) ecology, environmental and sustainability sciences, ecological economics, geography or related disciplines are always welcome. We offer good infrastructure to support them. We are happy to discuss relevant projects and are also in position to advise on funding opportunities for postdocs and junior group leaders.
We are always happy to discuss opportunities (including funding) with enthusiastic candidates who are interested in the general areas of research of the lab. A relevant background could be in biology, (landscape) ecology, environmental and sustainability sciences, ecological economics, geography or related disciplines. If suitable, we support the application process and successful candidates can join the graduate programmes of HIGRADE.
M.Sc. thesis opportunities
We are always happy to discuss opportunities when they fit our research outlook. Please get in touch with your cv, interests and time availability.
Current topics of interest:
- What are the dynamics of biodiversity and ecosystem services in coupled social-ecological systems? How to improve the science for assessments of biodiversity and ecosystem services, including modelling of interregional flows of ecosystem services between beneficiaries and providers across space? How does telecoupling affect sustainability and risk of longterm ecosystem service provision?
- How to work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders and experts in monitoring biodiversity and ecosystem services, and in analysing change? How can we include aspects of citizen science and participatory GIS for mapping and assessing, e.g. provisioning, regulating and cultural services in urban areas or protected areas?
- How to effectively conserve, manage and restore biodiversity and ecosystem services?
- How is biodiversity linked to ecosystem services and to health and wellbeing outcomes?
If you are interested in joining the lab, please contact Aletta Bonndirectly and provide a short statement of your research interests and a CV with your latest certificates.
