GLUES – Global Assessment of Land Use Dynamics, Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Ecosystem Services
The research programme ”sustainable land management” is being coordinated and moderated by the scientific coordination and synthesis project GLUES (Global Assessment of Land Use Dynamics, Greenhouse Gas Emissions and Ecosystem Services).
The objective of the consortium, based at the UFZ (incl. various external partners, see below) aims at an overarching coordination of international cross-sectoral activities of around 10 international joint research projects. This comprises the support through various communication measures and a synthesis of results generated within the programme. Therefore a network among science and stakeholders will be initiated. Using a common data platform and developing consistent land use scenarios helps to support the joint research projects. This is done by an analysis and synthesis of global and regional impacts land use management has on ecosystem services and green house gas emissions.
The synthesis integrates the results of the joint research projects with regard to the requirements of various user and stakeholder groups. Through continuous communication and the development of an interface to political processes results will be provided to potential user groups and transferred and fed into in international political processes. Hence GLUES will improve the visibility of German land use research in the international research scene.
