Eighth Roundtable

Round Table 8 took place on April 17, 2012 at the Campus Lo Contador of the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. The overall aim of this meeting was to discuss concrete adaptation measures that are the result of the overall Round Table process.

Based on the proposals that emerged during the past three Round Tables, a series of measures was elaborated and subjected to extensive scoping studies in order to determine their legal, normative, institutional and financial implications. Therefore, the objective of Round Table 8 was to obtain feedback of the participants regarding possible obstacles to implementation, suggestions for improving the measures, and to evaluate the measures in their current state.

Scientific input was given in form of a 2-4 page description of each measure. During the Round Table, these measures were discussed group wise according to the general purpose that they are designed to achieve. Following each brief presentation of the various measures as included in the three categories, participants of the Round Table reflected upon and responded to three general questions that stimulated the discussion: Which obstacles do you identify in relation to legal, institutional and financial limitations? How could or should the presented measures be improved? Which organizations should be responsible for the implementation?

All valuable information will serve as an important basis for the final selection and description of the measures to be included in the Regional Climate Adaptation Plan. The next Round Table meeting will take place on June 08, 2012.
