Seventh Roundtable

TOPIC: Energy

The Seventh Round Table meeting on January 26, 2012 was hosted by the Gobierno Regional de la Región Metropolitana de Santiago. This last out of three thematic Round Tables was dedicated to the effects of climate change on the energy sector in the Metropolitan Region.

As a starting point, a scientific input presentation was given on the effects of climate change on energy availability and security, and possible adaptation measures. The following discussion in small working groups was dedicated to two main questions. The first was designed to motivate participants to think of the type of general energy policy initiatives they would like to see emerge in the region towards 2050, while the second question was geared towards eliciting specific measures, plans or programs that would allow for these overall goals to be achieved in the specific area (supply, demand, institutionality).

All information will serve as an important basis for the selection and prioritization of concrete adaptation measures. The next Round Table meeting will take place on April 17, 2012.
