Fourth Roundtable

The fourth Round Table meeting took place on May, 19 2011 at the Gobierno Regional de la Región Metropolitana de Chile. For the first time, the Meteorological Board of Chile (DMC) complemented the established group of representatives of the public and private sector, civil society and academic/multi-lateral institution participants. Two scientific inputs were given on a) climate change adaptation, adaptation planning, and various types and experiences of adaptation planning in several city-regions from around the world, and b) the concept and use of scenarios in climate change adaptation planning, as well as the creation of two alternative scenarios to be used in the CAS project. The participatory activity included a SWOT analysis of the activities being carried out by their respective organizations, in order to determine the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats for each organization’s capacity to develop climate change adaptation measures.

All information will serve as an important basis the next Round Table meeting during which the specific measures to be included in the regional adaptation plan are to be determined. The next Round Table meeting is envisaged for the second half of September 2011.
