Research activities and methods

The Microbial Ecology and Biodegradation group focus on the proteome analysis of microbial cultures involved in the degradation of BTEX and chlorinated compounds under aerobic and anaerobic conditions. The recently established protein-based stable isotope probing (Protein-SIP) method is applied to investigate well-defined mixed as well as enrichment cultures by the metabolic incorporation of isotopes using labelled substrates.
