BDZ Demonstration and Training Facility (Germany)
Twelve different treatment plants operated with the state-of-the-art technologies of twelve leading manufacturers have been in continuous operation at the BDZ-test site in Leipzig since 2005. The simultaneous operation of the different treatment plants offers the unique opportunity to compare the treatment performance of the different processes under extreme hydraulic conditions. The behavior of pharmaceutical compounds during treatment is also being investigated.
Future work will be directed to the degradation of other persistent organic pollutants and the risk of generating microorganisms resistant to antibiotics during the treatment process. The demonstration site is open to the public. BDZ and UFZ jointly offer seminars, workshops and conferences on decentralized wastewater management and water reuse.
