1973-1988 PhD student and Research Associate at Institute of Physical Chemistry of the University Jena, engaged in education of students and theoretical as well as experimental research in the field of surface chemistry
1988-1991 Research Scientist at the Central Institute for Isotope and Radiation Research Leipzig, Special field: Isotope geochemistry of nitrogen
1992-1993 Head of a project group "Isotope Geochemistry" of Scientists-Integration Program (WIP) supported by KAI e.V., engaged at the application of stable isotope tracer for the characterization of fluid sources, transport and interaction processes
1994-1997 Integration of the project group with Institute of Geophysics and Geology at the University Leipzig by continuation of research topics. Handling of several DFG-projects (Br 1396/1, Br 1396/2, Br 1396/3, Br 1396/4) as well as further development of methodological procedures of sampling preparation for the analysis of stable isotopes.
