Research interests

I am interested in the biotransformation and effects of antibiotics in the environment, especially in agricultural soils. My focus is on both the antibiotics themselves and the associated resistance genes in bacteria. The latter are particularly important because of their potential to multiply and spread in the environment and, when transferred to pathogens, to threaten human and animal health. It is therefore necessary to consider human, animal and environmental health together when developing strategies to contain antimicrobial resistance, and the environment in particular has not been sufficiently taken into account in previous actions.
