TERENO - Observatory and Experimental Platforms of the UFZ

Observation and experimentation are key elements for a scientific assessment of global change. TERENO - Terrestrial Environmental Observatories - is an initiative of the Helmholtz Association focussing on long-term observation and experimentation. It is supported by several Helmholtz centers:

  • Forschungszentrum Jülich - FZJ
  • Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research - UFZ
  • Karlsruhe Institute of Technology - KIT
  • Helmholtz Zentrum München - German Center for Environmental Health - HMGU
  • German Aerospace Center - DLR
  • German Research Centre for Geosciences - GFZ

The UFZ operates and provides several advanced infrastructures for long-term environmental research and focuses on aspects of biodiversity too. The following pages provide detailed information regarding the Harz / Central German Lowland Observatory and experimental platforms of the UFZ.

Note that the official website about all TERENO activities and observatories is www.tereno.net. However, the intention of following pages is to provide additional information about specific aspects of the Harz / Central German Lowland Observatory.
