Welcome to the Helmholtz Research School ESCALATE!

The research school ESCALATE is funded by the Helmholtz association, the Helmholtz Center for Environmental Research – UFZ, the University of Leipzig, the Martin-Luther-University of Halle-Wittenberg and the Federal Environment Agency (Umweltbundesamt, UBA). An interdisciplinary group of scientists from these institutions have joined forces to provide training and conduct research in the field of Ecosystem Services.

Our main goal is educate a new generation of young scientists in interdisciplinary ecosystem service research by bringing together an experienced and multidisciplinary team for doctoral education, integrating the UFZ with excellent external partners. ESCALATE provides harmonized education in theoretical principles of all involved disciplines, enabling interdisciplinary thinking and research on ecosystem services.
